West Brom striker Wood completes Brighton loan move

League One outfit Brighton have completed the signing of West Bromwich Albion forward Chris Wood on a loan deal until January 3. The 18-year-old, who played in the summer's World Cup for New Zealand, has featured once for the Baggies this season whilst he made seven appearances for Barnsley in a loan deal.

Seagulls boss Gus Poyet told the club's official website: "It is no secret that we have been working to bring another striker to the club, and Chris is a player we have been aware of for a long time and working to get here for a while.

"He is highly thought of by those at West Bromwich Albion. He is a bid, strong, powerful forward and will give us something different in terms of an attacking option, and extra competition alongside our other strikers."

Poyet also confirmed that despite the arrival of Wood he is still in the market for a replacement for Kazenga LuaLua whose loan spell from Newcastle came to a premature end after he broke his ankle during last Saturday's 3-1 defeat to Hartlepool.

He added: "Chris's arrival is unrelated to Kazenga's injury; we still need a replacement for him, and everyone is working hard on getting someone here as soon as possible."
