West Brom teenage striker Chris Wood's week is just getting better.

After making his Premiership debut last Saturday, Wood, 17, has been called into the New Zealand squad for June's Confederations Cup.

The centre-forward told the WBA website: "Ryan Nelson is the only big name.

"Most play in the A League for Wellington Pheonix, and a couple play in the NZFC, which is a step down from the A League.

"If I get some experience in the Premier League there will be a good chance for me in the national team, hopefully.

"It would be a big step up but after stepping up to the Premier League, I think I would be ready for it."
