West Brom squeeze past Luton

West Bromwich Albion reached the second round of the Carabao Cup with a 1-0 win over League One side Luton.

Oliver Burke scored the only goal and opened his Albion account with a second half strike that decided the match.

The midfielder, who was paid £15m to RB Salzburg, slotted the ball past Hatters goalkeeper James Shea from 15 yards in the 62nd minute.

Until then, Luton fought hard to deny the Baggies the opener as Hal Robson-Kanu wasted most of hosts opportunities.

Matty Pearson had a chance to punish West Brom for their inefficiency but placed his shot over the bar.
