West Brom matchwinner Gallagher inspired by Chelsea boss Lampard - and Mount

West Brom matchwinner Conor Gallagher hopes Chelsea manager Frank Lampard is watching his progress.

The on-loan Blues midfielder struck the only goal as the Baggies defeated Sheffield United on Saturday.

Albion were able to sign Gallagher on loan because of the strong relationship between Lampard and manager Slaven Bilic, who played together at West Ham in the 1990s under Harry Redknapp.

"Lampard was someone I used to base my game around," said Gallagher, an England Under 21 international. "As I got older, I felt a box-to-box midfielder was the best position for me.

"With England the manager (Aidy Boothroyd) said in the last four years there were 21 players from the Under 21s who went up to the senior side.

"To see players like Jude Bellingham and Mason Mount go to the seniors is great. It gives me hope that I might get a chance."
