West Brom failed with a bid for new Tottenham signing Moussa Sissoko last week.
The Sunday Mirror says West Brom were in the hunt for former Newcastle midfielder Sissoko who eventually ended up at White Hart Lane following a £30m deadline day switch to Spurs.
The France international was the subject of a £20m cash offer with ex-England striker Rickie Lambert and winger Callum McManaman moving to Tyneside.
In addition, the Baggies had also lined up PSV Eindhoven forward Jurgen Locadia for a £10m switch – only to pull the plug during the last few hours and plump for free agent Hal Robson-Kanu instead.
