West Bromwich Albion legend Cyrille Regis fears for his old club under manager Pepe Mel.
Regis admitted he was unconvinced by the choice of the 50-year-old to succeed Steve Clarke.
He told the Express & Star: "For me, they made a mistake in the first place. That's not because I don't like him or think he's a bad manager but they needed a fire-fighter - someone who knows the League, like Roy Hodgson, who can build a solid team, make a defence tighter and allow the 'footballers' to play. That worked for West Brom.
"I'm not sure Pepe Mel's football is what Albion need right now.
"That's why there is tension. The senior players who played under Roy will remember what he did, knowing the foundation came at the back."
