Derby boss Nigel Clough is looking to land a striker on loan, with West Bromwich Albion forward Chris Wood their number one target. The Baggies are reportedly reluctant to let the New Zealand international leave on a short-term basis due to injuries in their first choice forward line.
"There is a round of League Cup games this week and a few fringe players might play so we are waiting until after Wednesday to follow up a few calls," Clough told the club's official website.
"We will continue the search and keep asking the questions.
"But we need the players back who are already in the squad, that is the other thing."
