West Brom face competition from China to land Besiktas striker Ba

West Bromwich Albion will go head-to-head with cashed up Shanghai Shenhua in the race to sign Demba Ba from Besiktas.

According to reports, Chinese Super League club Shanghai are showing serious interest in the 30-year old Senegal international and have made a £10million bid for his services.

Albion are keen on the former West Ham United, Newcastle United and Chelsea attacker but Shanghai, who signed Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka in 2012, have made the first move.

Besiktas board member Ahmet Urkmezgil said: "The Chinese side wants him and have made us an offer but nothing has been finalised as of yet."

Ba, who joined Besiktas last summer and scored 27 goals in all competitions for the Istanbul outfit last term, is eyeing a possible move back to the Premier League where he has netted 43 goals in 99 appearances for the Blues, Magpies and Hammers.
