West Brom defender Lescott upset being played out of position

West Bromwich Albion defender Joleon Lescott is unhappy being played out of position by manager Tony Pulis.

Lescott was selected at left-back for the Baggies' 2-1 FA Cup win at Birmingham and then kept on in the role in the 3-0 loss to Spurs.

Left-footed Lescott, who moved from champions Manchester City in the summer, said: "Last week he was experimenting, and it is difficult for any manager to change a winning team.

"[And] When he named the team on Friday [to play Spurs] it is not the right time to go in there and ask his reasons. You have to kind of be grateful you are in the team and after the game ask his reasons and assess what has happened and move on.

"The manager has obviously asked me to do a job and at the recent time I can do that but I see myself as centre-half.

"I came here to play centre-half. I feel I have been doing well doing that.

"I am sure the manager's real focus is me playing there and hopefully that is the case. That is what is best for the team.

"I am not a left-back.

"I haven't played there for a number of years. I might be able to play there and hold my own now and again but we need specific players in their right positions."
