West Brom coach Appleton urges youngsters to grab Cup chance

West Bromwich Albion reserves coach Michael Appleton expects his young players to get their chance in the Carling Cup against Manchester City.

Roberto Di Matteo changed his entire XI for the 2-0 victory at League One Leyton Orient in the previous round.

But, while the Baggies boss will make use of his squad, first-team coach Appleton is not predicting wholesale changes to the side that beat Blues 3-1 in Saturday's league derby.

"I think you can obviously expect changes," he told the WBA website.

"I don't think there will be as many as there were against Leyton Orient. But it's an opportunity for the head coach to use his squad. I think we have a few more bodies in the squad than we did last season and the season before.

"It's another opportunity for some of the lads that played at Leyton Orient to stake a claim."
