West Brom boss Tony Mowbray took heart from Leon Barnett's performance in defeat to Chelsea yesterday.
Barnett stepped in for Abdoulaye Meite, who was forced off during the first-half, and acquitted himself well.
"Abou has done his hamstring," said Mowbray. "I don't know whether it's going to be two, four or six weeks out - we'll wait and see how bad it is when we scan it.
"Leon's been waiting for an opportunity and now he's got an opportunity.
"We'll see how he gets on.
"But he's been frustrated and chomping at the bit to get back into the side.
"I'm sure he won't let us down.
"He's a whole-hearted boy and a natural competitor.
"Now he's got a chance, it's down to him."
