West Brom boss Irvine determined to keep hold of Thorne, Dawson

West Bromwich Albion boss Alan Irvine doesn't want to lose young England pair Craig Dawson and George Thorne.

WBA have rejected a bid from Burnley for defender Dawson and also from Derby County for midfielder Thorne.

"George and Craig are very much players in my thoughts," Irvine told the Birmingham Mail.

"I had long discussions with both of them and they were good, amicable talks. They know the situation and have continued to work hard in training.

"They have come in this week, trained very well and they are very much part of our squad right now.

"If they were to go then obviously we would need to find replacements but I don't want either player to go.

"Obviously though if a club comes in with an offer that we think would be good enough to accept then the player could go. But we haven't had a single offer for any of our players that we deem to be good enough right now.

"We can't stop people from making offers but it's up to us if we accept or reject.

"We are looking to add players, not let any go. We've got to better the squad and not weaken it."
