West Brom boss Sam Allardyce has branded the Super League breakaway as "astonishing".
The project is now in tatters after the six Premier League clubs withdrew their commitment yesterday.
Allardyce said: "It is astonishing that people would want to break away.
"They don't realise what they already have.
"The jealousy of the European boys [of the Premier League] has been massive for 20 years, which is worldwide audiences of a billion people. I have sat in studios all over the world and realised the huge impact the Premier League has in those countries..
"I've been in bars in Singapore after working and it is still packed in the middle of the night, watching the Premier League. It's given fans a real smack in the face."
