West Bromwich Albion are eyeing Cardiff City winger Peter Whittingham.

The Birmingham Mail says new head coach Steve Clarke will hold talks with technical and sporting director Dan Ashworth about the club's transfer targets and Whittingham is expected to be on the agenda alongside other midfield alternatives.

The Bluebirds are desperate to keep hold of the 27-year-old ex-Villa midfielder but Albion have money available and could be ready to test their resolve once they have assessed other players that are available to them.
