Werner penalty puts RB Leipzig on top of lacklustre Tottenham

RB Leipzig have defeated Spurs 1-0 in North London to take the advantage in their Champions League last-16.

It was the German club's first ever Champions League knockout match and win.

Timo Werner's penalty proved the difference after the German was brought down in the box by Ben Davies.

Spurs came to life with 20 minutes to play, but they struggled to create enough chances without a genuine striker.

Speaking after the game, Spurs captain Hugo Lloris said: "I want to stay positive especially after what we saw in the last 20 minutes.

"There is a second leg and we have a chance. It's not the best result we could get."
