Lukas Podolski is not a realistic target for Werder Bremen according to the German club.

The 29-year old Arsenal forward has reportedly emerged on the radar of the Bundesliga outfit but general manager Thomas Eichin has played down those claims.

"Lukas Podolski is a great footballer, I like him. But we do not need to discuss such rumours," Eichin told Bild.

"It is totally unrealistic for us to make a move for him."

Podolski spent the second half of last season on loan at Inter Milan but netted just one goal in 18 appearances.
