Arsene Wenger felt Yaya Sanogo's first Arsenal start was very impressive.
The 21-year old French striker, who joined from Auxerre in the summer, did well up front for the Gunners as they beat Liverpool 2-1 in the fifth round of the FA Cup.
Sanogo was replaced late by Olivier Giroud but his first full shift for Arsenal was well-received by his manager.
"For a first performance he was excellent. He was always in the game, he was a handle for them," said Wenger.
"It's his first official game basically, he played one game in the reserves for 60 minutes. Considering the intensity of the game, he was absolutely excellent."
