Wellington Phoenix signing Diego is confident he will have success with his new team. The former Adelaide United midfielder signed with the New Zealand-based club in the off-season and is looking forward to a new challenge with the Phoenix.

"In my eyes, it will be the best ever season for the Phoenix," he said.

"(Winning the title) will be a difficult task, but it's something that is do-able. The team has been around for a couple of years and there is definitely a core."

The Brazilian said he has no regrets leaving the Reds and is ready for to enter a new phase of his career.

"Some people were angry that I left, but I wasn't offered a contract. I struggled a bit with injuries and the coach decided to let me go. It was a legitimate decision. Now I'm ready to start a new chapter in my life," he added.
