Weiss happy with Rangers debut

New Rangers recruit Vladimir Weiss was satisfied with his first outing for the club against Hibernian during Sunday's 3-0 win at Easter Road. The Manchester City winger was named on the bench after completing his loan on Thursday and looked on from the sidelines as Kevin Lafferty and Hibs' Kevin McBride were dismissed for their part in a melee.

"It was brilliant," he said of his debut. "After Laff got the red card, I wasn't sure if I was going to come on or not. But I came on and the atmosphere and everything about the game was very good. That's my job - to create goals or score goals and I've done one so that's a good start."

Weiss believes he can strike up a good understanding with Miller, who has netted four goals in the opening two SPL matches.

He added: "He can score from anywhere and he is always going to run at people and he won the game for us so it was a great effort.

"He is going to score as many goals as he can and I'm going to try to set him up for them. We've got a good squad and the players are enjoying it so I think we are going to have a good year this year."

Weiss - who rejected a move to Old Firm rivals Celtic in favour of Rangers - appears to have won over the Ibrox faithful already with his first contribution.

"I hope so," he said.

"Since the moment I came on, they were supporting me and you need that in the game, especially on your debut. If the fans are with you, it's a good feeling."
