Wednesday lose late at Walsall

League OneSheffield Wednesday conceded two late goals in the 2-1 defeat at Walsall much to the frustration of boss Gary Megson. "We have been in front into stoppage time in the last two games and ended up not winning. We should have had five more points,' said Megson.

"Walsall's first goal was a fluke and our left-back was not in the right position and their player ends up having a shot and it trickled in. That gave Walsall momentum but before then they did not cause us any problems, which may sound churlish.

"Ourselves and Charlton have the best home records in this division so if we go to Preston and get a result we shall be in a good position because in the second half of the season we have 13 games at home and 10 away and we should have (injured striker) Gary Madine back.

"I don't want to make excuses but we have one or two issues at the club. Our ball retention from the forwards was shocking. If the ball keeps coming back you get pressure."

Megson added: 'I hope we can do some business in January and the chairman will back us to get players in. There is a great deal of expectation at this club."
