Webster released to resume Rangers career

Andy Webster is free to resume his Rangers career.

The two-week suspension FIFA imposed on him for breaking his contract with Hearts "without just cause" expired at midnight, allowing him to be included in Walter Smith's squad for today's Clydesdale Bank Premier League match against Falkirk at Ibrox.

"Andy is available to us now, but his problem is an obvious one of not having played enough games," said Smith. "We managed to give him 90 minutes in a closed door friendly against Airdrie on Wednesday, so he is getting started eventually.

"Because of the injury he suffered and then the suspension he received because of his involvement in the transfer saga, it means we will have to bring him into games when he is maybe not match fit. Daniel Cousin and Steven Whittaker are in the same position at the moment, but the only way they are going to get match fit is if we throw them in."
