Watford winger Ken Sema has explained his decision to move to Udinese.

Sema joined Udinese over summer on a season-long loan - in search of regular first team football.

The Sweden international moved to the Hornets in the summer of 2018 from Ostersunds FK on the back of their exciting run in the Europa League the previous season.

Sema, 26, did enjoy a decent campaign with Watford last term, making over 15 appearances. But he admits he needed to be playing more and so chose to make the switch to Udine.

"First and foremost it was about playing time," he told the Göteborgs-Posten.

"I felt that I had been there for a year, got to know the Premier League, started pretty much considering it was my first season after I came from the Allsvenskan, got to score ... Now I wanted more, I wanted to play more."

Sema's decision to move to Udinese means the winger pitching up at essentially Watford's Serie A partners. The two clubs are owned by the Pozzo family.

The Zebrette currently sit in fourteenth position on the Serie A table, with Sema playing for Udinese coach Igor Tudor, the former Juventus defender.

Sema added: "It has felt good. I got into it well and got to play - which is important - and I've developed."

Udinese were beaten by Fiorentina before breaking up for the international recess. They host Torino this weekend.
