Watford News: Gray admits relegation form; Cathcart shines in friendly comeback

Watford striker Andre Gray admits they're displaying relegation form.

The Hornets have lost six of their past seven games.

"We have been through a very bad run the last eight or nine games and we are still sitting 10th, so if we can come through that we can climb the table," said Gray.

"Last season if we had been on this run we would have found ourselves in the bottom three, but we are lucky enough that there are teams around us that have dropped points as well.

"We are still sitting in a good position in terms of points but I don't think the run will last too long and we can come through that starting on Saturday [against Bristol City in the FA Cup]."

The striker added: "I have no doubt we will come through it and we have had a great first half of the season bar the last few games. We need to come through this stage and kick on for the top 10."

Meanwhile, Craig Cathcart is working his way back to full fitness.

Cathcart played for 75 minutes as Watford beat Queens Park Rangers in a friendly yesterday.

Goals from Troy Deeney and Sebastian Prodl secured the win, but Cathcart, missing since August knee surgery, was understandably pleased to get some minutes under his belt.

“It's nice to be back in a game situation, I've been back in full training for a week now," he told the club website.

“It was good to get back on the pitch - obviously training is a bit different, there's different distances you have to run so it was good to get back into the swing of things and get 75 minutes under my belt."
