Watford midfielder Ben Watson defended the fans after their 1-0 FA Cup defeat to Southampton.
A small group of Watford fans were involved in some forthright exchanges with Jose Holebas and Christian Kabasele at the full-time whistle.
Watson defended the Hornets' faithful's right to air their views, having witnessed plenty of good and bad times at Vicarage Road during his three years at Vicarage Road.
He said: "Fans have their opinions on everything, and they pay their money to watch the team, if they feel we didn't perform they have their right to say something.
"That's football in general. When you're winning games, that's great but when you're losing they can turn against you. It's up to us to put it right and get them back onside."
