Watford have failed with an opening bid for Rennes winger Ismaili Sarr.

The attacking midfielder is up for sale at Rennes, though the Hornets must up their first offer to land the youngster.

A bid of €30m, reports L'Equipe, has been tabled and rejected by Rennes.

The Ligue 1 outfit are seeking €40m to sell Sarr.

Along with Watford, Newcastle United are also interested in the midfielder.
