Watford are hopeful of securing a deal for Rennes midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure ahead of Monday's transfer deadline, according to Sky Sports.

The Hornets have reignited their interest in the 23-year-old after failing to sign him in the summer transfer window.

It is believed that Quique Sanchez Flores is eager to land former France U21 international Doucure on Monday as he strives to strengthen his Europe-chasing squad.

Doucoure has progressed through the youth ranks of Rennes and scored 12 goals in 72 appearances for the Ligue 1 club.
