Watford goalkeeper Pontus Dahlberg: I'm working on loan move

Watford goalkeeper Pontus Dahlberg admits he's ready to leave in January on-loan.

The Sweden U21 international is seeking regular first team action after finding himself stuck in the stands this season. The youngster is strictly third-choice at the Hornets behind senior pair Ben Foster and Heurelho Gomes.

The 20 year-old shot-stopper is regarded highly in Sweden, but is still waiting for a first team chance at Vicarage Road and is desperate to kickstart his senior career. Dahlberg joined Watford in January 2018 from IFK Gothenberg.

With the winter market looming, he admits it's time to take the plunge.

Dahlberg told the Goteborgs-Posten: "We are trying to get a loan. That's the priority for me right now. I have to get away and play matches at some point."

The youngster concedes it hasn't gone to plan for him at Watford, but insists he has no regrets given what was offered to him during the initial negotiations almost two years ago.

He explained, "The most important thing for me was that you get a good idea around what the club wants from you. You should not go for the first, but try to get the best plan for you.

"You want to see a long-term view of things from the club."

Before leaving IFK, Dahlberg won his one cap with Sweden in a friendly against Estonia. Just weeks later, the goalkeeper was signing a a five-and-a-half-year deal with Watford.
