Watford goalkeeper Foster welcomes Hodgson 'old school' methods

Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster has praised Roy Hodgson's "old school" methods.

The Englishman has earned his first two clean sheets of the season since Hodgson replaced Claudio Ranieri as manager.

Speaking after beating Aston Villa last weekend, Foster told Inside the Hive: "I absolutely love him. He's about as old school as you can get as a manager in terms of how he deals with people.

"He'll tell you exactly how it is - it's black or white and no grey area in between. It's so important in modern football that there's nothing left to risk or to chance.

"[Hodgson and Lewington] don't dwell on things, they'll address what went wrong and get you working on what they want you to work on. The way that Ray and Roy like to do things is when the ball is on one side of the pitch, we'll get across as a unit.

"When it goes over the other side, we have to bust a gut to get over there. Once everyone starts to get to grips with exactly what it is he wants us to do, we'll start to gel nicely."
