Watford are closing on a deal for Genoa striker Giovanni Simeone.

The 21-year old is on Watford's radar, having signed from from River Plate for around £2.5million a year ago.

Simeone was one of the club's top performers as they narrowly avoided relegation from Serie A, finishing four points above the drop in 16th place.

The striker fired 13 goals in 36 outings, including a brilliant brace inside 13 minutes a shock 3-1 win over Juventus.

Italian transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio says Watford – who recently appointed Marco Silva as manager after his departure from Hull City – are said to be interested in signing Giovanni.
