Hayden Mullins insists he is only focusing on keeping Watford in the Premier League.
Mullins was placed in charge of the first-team on Monday following the dismissal of Nigel Pearson.
With the Hornets sitting three points above the drop, Mullins will be looking for positive results over the final two games of the season.
"I think I said before in December, when I had the caretaker role, I work for the club," said Mullins, whose Watford side face Manchester City on Tuesday.
"And at the moment I recognise where we are and what the situation is, and what we need and how we need to focus.
"I think that's my focus at the moment. My focus is definitely on the game on Tuesday. My focus today is definitely on preparing the team. Anything more long term I haven't thought about.
"The club have the reasons for the decision [to sack Pearson]. I have been asked to step in and be caretaker in these next two games. That is what I will try and do.
"For me, where I am in my coaching career, I have been with this group now since December.
"I feel like we know how they work. In terms of any other decisions I think you'll have to speak to the club about that.
"Me personally, I have just got a job to do and I will just have to try carry out that as well as I can.
"My main focus is focusing these boys for the next two games. That's how it has got to be."
