Watford captain Troy Deeney hit out at ref Kevin Friend after their 2-2 draw with Everton.
Richarlison's opener was given despite Theo Walcott being offside in the build-up, then Friend refused to give Yerry Mina a second yellow card.
Deeney said: “The refs have got a tough job and I'm not going to come out and hammer them, we just want a bit of respect when we are talking.
“A lot of stuff we do now is about respect for referees but also at the same time when they make a mistake we don't highlight that, we didn't in this instance and tried to have a chat with him and felt that he fobbed us off.
“At that point it fired us up, it was the team talk done as we felt the whole world was against us."
Ben Foster saved a penalty but Lucas Digne's free-kick earned a point in the 96th minute.
Deeney said: “As you could see we came out and showed what we were about with high energy, everyone fighting and getting stuck in unfortunately we just fell short but there are a lot teams that will struggle coming to this ground.
“It feels like a defeat.
“It's a shame for Ben who has been great for weeks now and deserves more points in the board for keeping us in games."
