Watford skipper Troy Deeney has revealed Arsenal defender Gabriel Paulista apologised to him for a studs-up tackle during the Hornets' 2-1 FA Cup win over the Gunners on Sunday.
Gabriel lunged at Deeney with two feet and studs showing midway through the first half of the contest, with referee Andre Marriner not sanctioning the Gunners defender because he believed he had got the ball with his challenge.
"I was unhappy with the tackle," Deeney told BT Sport after the contest.
"Obviously I could have gone through him as well but I tried my best to keep my studs down.
"He came over the top; I don't think he was intentionally trying to do me. Fair play to him, he apologised.
"I was a bit frustrated in the initial moments after because they're the tackles that can break legs. Thankfully I'm a big guy and I rode the tackle. We're men at the end of the day, we'll shake hands and there's no hard feelings."
