Watford boss Ranieri delighted with King; impressed by Southampton

Watford boss Claudio Ranieri says his players have been lifted by their 5-2 victory at Everton.

The Hornets next meet Southampton on Saturday at Vicarage Road.

Ranieri said, “Of course the boost was very important, as were the three points on the table, but we must forget what happened and continue in this way.

“We have a difficult match because every match in the Premier League is difficult. We must be careful and play with intelligence.

“I was satisfied after the match, but after I think immediately of the next match.

“I went to watch Chelsea against Southampton in the Carabao Cup and I saw a good, well-organised team.

“They made a lot of changes and played so well. It is a dangerous match on Saturday."

Joshua King's hat-trick at Everton was his first in the Premier League but it was his all-round display which caught the eye of Ranieri last Saturday.

"Joshua surprised me because I didn't remember him very well," said the Italian.

"I said 'well done' to him but not for the hat-trick, but for how he played. He held the ball up very, very well. He gave the time for his team-mates, closed down every action very well."
