Watford defeated Newcastle United 2-0 in Saturday's FA Cup fourth round tie.
Andre Gray's 62nd-minute strike and a late second from Isaac Success were enough to settle a forgettable tie 2-0 in front of a crowd of 34,604 on a day when the magic of the FA Cup failed to arrive on Tyneside - the managers made 18 changes between them.
Watford boss Javi Gracia said: "In this moment we are in a good position in the league, but we are in January yet and there's a lot of games in both competitions.
"Now is the moment when we have to show our level and be demanding and show our ambition.
"We worked well. We dominated a part of the game and in that moment we score the goals it was a good performance for us.
"I am very pleased for all of them sometimes it's not easy for me to explain how important are all my players. When I say I believe in all my squad, it's because I believe in all my squad.
"In games like today it's important to show all of them are working really well."
