Watford boss Quique Sanchez Flores has refused to blame Nathan Ake for his red-card offence in the 2-1 defeat to Tottenham on Monday.

The 20-year-old Chelsea loanee was sent off in the 63rd minute of the game for a high foot challenge against Erik Lamela when the score was still 1-1 but Flores has refused to blame him for the Hornets' defeat.

"He is disappointed but I support him more than ever," Flores said.

"He is a very fair player. This kind of player you need to love because he is an amazing player in all ways.

"He apologised but he didn't need to, it's football. He went for the ball and deserved to take the ball. It's football, it can happen."
