Watching Man Utd? LVG admits discussing transfers with Holland players

Holland coach Louis van Gaal admits speaking to players about transfers.

It was claimed over the summer that Van Gaal talked Jurrien Timber out of a move to Manchester United - which the Ajax defender has since denied.

However, LVG told Voetbal International: "I would like to clarify one thing: I called players, it's true, but I always ended the call with: This is advice, but you have to make the choice yourself."

On Barcelona's two Dutch players, he also said: "I would have been happier if Memphis (Depay) and Frenkie (de Jong) would play more regularly.

"But Frenkie has already got ninety minutes a couple of times, which is nice."
