WATCH: Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo proud to accept Serie A MVP in Milan

Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo has been named Serie A's Player of the Year.

Ronaldo was awarded the gong on the night he finished runner-up to Barcelona ace Lionel Messi in the Ballon d'Or count.

The 34-year-old scored 21 Serie A goals last season to help Juve win their eighth straight Scudeto.

“I will try to speak Italian. I am proud to be considered the best striker in Italy," he said at the Milan ceremony, having snubbed the Ballon d'Or gala in Paris.

“I thank my teammates, the players who voted for me. After two years in Italy, I can say it is a very difficult League.

“I thank everyone for voting for me and hope next year will be the same."
