Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho has been struck by a missile during defeat to Schalke.
Sancho - who turned 19 last month - started the game at the Westfalenstadion, and celebrated with teammates when Mario Gotze headed home his intelligent pass for the hosts in the 14th minute.
Gotze ran in front of the visiting Schalke fans to celebrate, and when his teammates surrounded him a white object thrown from the stands struck former Manchester City junior Sancho on the right hand side of the face, causing him to need medical attention from Dortmund's medical staff before he returned the the pitch.
Dortmund would eventually lose to their bitter rivals 2-1.
