Former Everton star Tim Cahill ended Syria's World Cup qualification dream when he scored for Australia during their 2-1 World Cup qualification playoff victory against the Syrians on Tuesday.
The result meant that Australia sealed victory in the two legged playoff 3-2 on aggregate. Australia will now face the fourth placed team from the Concacaf region for a spot in the World Cup next summer, which is Honduras.
