Chelsea attacker Christian Pulisic couldn't hold back the tears after being substituted during the USA's 2-0 defeat to Canada in the CONCACAF Nations League.
US boss Gregg Berhalter withdrew Pulisic after an hour of the clash in Toronto, in which Canada beat their neighbours for the first time in 34 years.
Berhalter would later claim that Pulisic had been suffering from "flu-like symptoms" and "a light fever" before the match, but the 21-year-old could be seen angrily telling his boss "I'm fine" as he sat on the bench looking distraught after the full-time whistle.
I have tears in my eyes by watching this...why would you sub the only player that has carried us this far in the game...I'm so so so sorry @cpulisic_10 I love you. We love you I hope you know that. I hope you fkin know that today
