Carlton Palmer has labelled Southampton great Matt Le Tissier 'unfit' and questioned his ambition in a recent interview.

In the 'League of Legends' interview series for Stadium Astro, former West Bromwich Albion, Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds United midfielder Palmer lashed out at Le Tissier who had in the past questioned the ability of his old Saints teammate.

“Matt Le Tissier is a talented player, but you've got to ask yourself the question, 'why did he not go to a big club?'," Palmer said.

“'Why did he not go and gets himself?', if he was such a good player.

“I went to Southampton and he was unfit. So I got about at him, because it's my living, and he didn't like it because he wasn't fit.

“He used to miss a lot of games, he used to miss a lot of training."
