Southampton captain James Ward-Prowse has offered a scathing assessment of their season.
Saints face being relegated from the Premier League over the next week.
Ward-Prowse told the club's website: "It has been too easy. Right from the first match against Tottenham until now, we haven't learned anything, we haven't developed.
"We just took the results as they were, and that is the most disappointing thing.
"It is clear that we must win all our last matches. This is the position in which we find ourselves.
"Every match has increased in importance. The challenge has not changed, we have to win our last games and hope that everything goes our way."
