Ward-Prowse says Southampton can't dwell on FA Cup elimination

James Ward-Prowse says Southampton can't dwell on their FA Cup elimination at home to Derby County.

The midfielder, who played the full 90 minutes, was clear that while tonight's result is a setback, it's important now to focus on the games ahead, and fighting for points in the Premier League - starting with Saturday's visit of Everton.

“Very disappointed," Ward-Prowse began. “The FA Cup is a great competition and looking back on it, we should have put the game to bed up at their place.

“A sloppy end of the game has cost us. Maybe we got too comfortable. We sat off after the second goal went in. The biggest disappointment is not carrying on momentum.

“It was a good win up at Leicester, we played well, it took a lot of determination and character, and it would have been another good stepping stone tonight. But we have to put it to bed now.

“It's unfortunate, but we can put everything into keeping our Premier League status now, and pushing up the table."
