Ward calls on Crystal Palace to show 'nasty streak'

Crystal Palace star Joel Ward believes they need to start showing a "nasty streak" in games.

The Eagles were beaten by Watford in the Carabao Cup, but fell to a late Ashley Fletcher winner.

Speaking after the 1-0 away loss, which Palace dominated for long periods, Ward told Palace TV: "I think it was a game that was there for us to go and win.

"And if you look at the chances we created, the control which we had in the game, especially the first-half, I think we could have put it to bed in that period alone. So it's gutting, and it's disappointing to walk away and walk off this pitch without a win.

"It was a dominant performance, but we need to be more ruthless. We need to have that nasty streak about us so that when we are on top, we are dominant or having long periods of sustained pressure we need to make that count.

"[We need to] have that nasty side to us where we go and punish teams. Tonight, unfortunately that wasn't there."
