Walters admits Stoke likely to sell senior players

Stoke City striker Jonathan Walters admits there could be several senior players on their way out before the market shuts.

There's no escaping the size of a squad losing just Matthew Etherington from its senior ranks at the end of last season - and gaining five (to date) from this summer's recruitment programme.

"We've got a huge squad now," Walters acknowledged to The Sentinel. "I think we had 28 the other day.

"I'm pretty sure the club will want to get players out because 28 is so high and it's difficult to get a balance with that many.

"There's no really young lads in the squad either. You find other clubs might have 22 and a few youngsters, but here it's a very large squad of senior players."
