Walter Zenga has been named new coach of Cagliari.

Zenga replaces Rolando Maran after he was dismissed on Tuesday.

Former goalkeeper Zenga will turn 60 next month and his most recent job was with Serie C side Venezia, ending in dismissal a year ago.

Cagliari officially sacked Maran this morning after an 11-game Serie A winless streak saw them drop down the table, along with a Coppa Italia exit.

Zenga has signed a deal to 2021, with youth coach Max Canzi being promoted to his assistant.
