Walter Sabatini resigns from Salernitana; Franck Ribery pens new deal

Veteran sporting director Walter Sabatini has resigned from Salernitana.

Sabatini only joined Salernitana last season, but his work in the January market went a long way to keeping the club up.

It's suggested Sabatini was forced to quit after failing to agree with president Danilo Lervolino on the direction of the club.

The former Roma, Sampdoria, Bologna and Inter Milan transfer guru's resignation was announced by Salernitana last night.

Meanwhile Franck Ribery, 39, has signed a new 12 month contract.

Ribery joined Salernitana last summer from Fiorentina.
