Walker pleased to get Man City momentum rolling

Kyle Walker was delighted to get things rolling for Manchester City in the Community Shield.

While it was not the most impressive performance from the Citizens, they did enough to beat Liverpool on penalties to win the trophy.

While most fans see the game as a friendly, Walker was happy to put in a good performance to start the season on the right foot.

"I'm a defender," he said to the club's official website. "I stop goals.

"I'm glad I can help the team out this time. They help me out all the time by scoring goals so that one is for them.

"It's the first trophy you can win.

"For me growing up, the Community Shield was a big one. It starts off the season.

"We can start our momentum, and hopefully we can replicate what we did last season."
