Wales can nick Stoke defender Shawcross

Stoke City defender Ryan Shawcross now qualifies for Wales.

Stoke No2 Peter Reid tipped Shawcross for England honours only this week. However, new FIFA rules mean Shawcross can now play for Wales.

Shawcross, a reported £9m transfer target for Liverpool, is now set to be asked if he would consider representing Wales at senior level.

The former Manchester United trainee and Welsh schoolboys international was raised in Buckley in Flintshire but was born in Chester.
