Theo Walcott would love to see Southampton re-sign Gareth Bale.

Off contract from Real Madrid, Bale has been offered to Getafe and is also in contact with Cardiff City.

The Wales captain wants to play on as he aims to be fit for this year's World Cup.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Walcott was asked if there was any chance his former Saints youth teammate could make a shock return to St Mary's.

“I'll be honest with you, I'm not the right man to answer that because I would love him there of course," Walcott responded.

“But there's a lot of teams of course, it's Gareth Bale. He shows he's still fit and hungry, and it will be very interesting."

He added: “I'm like the whole world, there's going to be a lot of movement in the transfer window, not just Bale, and I'm looking forward to it. Very intrigued."
